Dr. Lisa Roberts – Gynecologist – Raleigh NC – Gynecology Procedures Performed
Advanced hysteroscopy allows the surgeon to perform surgical procedures in the uterus, such as the removal of fibroids and polyps, while viewing a TV monitor. Advanced laparoscopy differs from open surgery in that the surgeon performs the procedure through a very small incision. Patients experience a faster recovery, shorter hospital stay and less postoperative pain with laparoscopic surgery when compared to conventional open surgery. The advent of minimally invasive techniques – the performance of surgery in many cases without open incisions – is one of the greatest innovations in surgery, and Dr. Roberts is a surgeon on the vanguard of medical practice.
Typical laparoscopic procedures performed by Dr. Lisa Roberts include hysterectomies (removal of uterus and cervix), treatment and removal of large fibroids, and removal of ovarian cysts. Hysteroscopy procedures include removal of large fibroids (from inside the uterus), endometrial ablations (for non-cancerous abnormal bleeding unresponsive to medical therapy), treatment of uterine abnormalities (septa and scar tissue) and polyps.
