Is Novasure the Answer?
If you have heavy periods, the symptoms may interfere with your everyday life. From feeling more tired than usual to skipping work because of pain, heavy periods can take a toll on your physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
Once you reach a point in life when you are absolutely sure that your childbearing years are over, the Novasure procedure becomes a viable option for heavy period relief. Novasure can be performed in the comfort of our offices, and you can leave with the assurance that you should experience almost immediate relief.
What to Expect
Novasure endometrial ablation is a simple, one-time procedure that only takes a few minutes to perform. The procedure can be scheduled any time during your menstrual cycle, even if you are bleeding at the time. It is conveniently performed in our office, requires no incisions, and no general anesthesia. Most women report little or no pain, and return to their regular activities within a day.
The procedure works by cauterizing the lining of the uterus (endometrium), which is the part that causes bleeding, with a quick delivery of radiofrequency energy.
Following an endometrial ablation procedure, the majority of women experience significantly less bleeding during their periods, and many will stop having menstrual periods altogether. Every woman is different so plan to give your body about three months to fully heal and resume your normal cycle. At that point, we should know what your cycle and periods will be like post-ablation.
