When medical therapy is not successful and a hysterectomy is recommended to treat non-cancerous abnormal uterine bleeding or fibroids inside the uterus, then there may be another option.
A surgeon trained in advanced hysteroscopy, in certain cases, may be able to perform a hysteroscopic myomectomy (removal of fibroids using the hysteroscope) or endometrial ablation (“burning” or freezing the lining of the uterus to decrease or stop bleeding).
