This is the perfect time to remember that 1 in 8 women is likely to be directly affected by breast cancer in their lifetime. The statistics show that cancer caught in the early stages have much more positive outcomes than ones that are discovered at later stages. As Gynecologists, we are often the first line physicians in the discovery of breast cancer.

We recommend that women do a monthly self-check and an annual exam that includes a manual breast exam by your gynecologist. For women who have a significant family history of breast cancer, this being blood-line relatives on both sides, we also recommend discussing the potential benefits of pursuing genetic testing for the BRCA gene to determine if there is a genetic predisposition.

Women who have experienced breast cancer treatment often experience lasting negative impacts of those treatments. In addition, after treatment, use of hormone therapy for survivors is not an option to treat many side effects. One such side effect, improved by hormone therapy, is vaginal dryness which can cause persistent discomfort and interfere with one’s quality of life. Our practice provides a non-hormonal, safe, effective and non-surgical option for improving dryness. Votiva uses radio-frequency energy to address vaginal dryness and also urinary incontinence with great success.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are offering a 10% discount to breast cancer survivors or active patients on Votiva procedures purchased in October.
